I am one of those nerds that love office/school supplies. I have a favorite type of pen… highlighter… tabs. Oh yeah! Don’t judge me. And now, I have a new semester ritual that makes going back to school (and taking notes) slightly less daunting.

Composition books never really interested me before. For goodness sakes, they were wide-ruled {the nerve}! But… my mind changed when my mother-in-law, Roxi, shared with me her artwork. It didn’t hurt, too, that each book is less than a dollar. Roxi is probably one of the most creative, and talented, person I know! She made one- each different and stunning- for all of the girls in the family at one reunion. Brilliant, I thought. So now, every semester I take out scrapbook paper, magazines, wrapping paper, and old calendars to start this quick and easy project. I have a notebook for each class- voila, instant outline! I keep one at work for all of the meeting notes. Thinking about making one for our Young Couples Group/Bible study… And, before Pinterest, I used to keep one at home to cut and paste pictures/recipes from magazines that inspired me. Yup, total nerd.
Hope you get out and create! This makes a great craft night with friends, or even a fun gift.
*Make sure to use Rubber cement glue, though, brand doesn’t matter. It truly is great for avoiding the paper wrinkles. Just don’t try it on your face, it doesn’t work there.

Darcy - I am an office supply nerd too! Being a teacher is my excuse. I have my students decorate a comp book at the beginning of each year to hold all of their writing. I learned from The Two Sisters (www.the2sisters.com) to duck tape a milkshake straw to the spine to hold a pencil or pen!
jennylinh3 - What a phenomenal idea, Darcy! Thanks so much for visiting and sharing
I’ll have to try that.
lawrence - Hey, really like the blog, wordpress?
